SB19's 'MAPA' is one of Google's most-searched songs for 2021

SB19 continues to go up as it racks another achievement before the end of year. The group's song "MAPA" placed in the top10 of Google's Most Searched Songs for 2021.

Alongside them on the list are famous names like BTS, Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow, Olivia Rodrigo, and Walker Hayes. SB19 and BTS are the only artists on the list who are not based in the West.

The list is part of Google's annual Year in Search, which recaps the news, actors, movies, television shows, and songs that people looked up on the search engine.

This is the latest achievement for the group this year. Earlier this month, the group's song “Bazinga” topped Billboard's Hot Trending Songs chart, the first time BTS was unseated from the top of the chart. The group was also nominated for the Top Social Artist award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards alongside BTS, Ariana Grande, Seventeen, and BLACKPINK.

“MAPA” and “Bazinga” are part of SB19's EP Pagsibol, which group leader Pablo talked about on GMA's Behind the Song podcast.

According to him, making Pagsibol was a difficult process for the group as it happened during the pandemic, when the group was demotivated because of canceled concerts and schedules. Thankfully, the group decided to come up with something that would inspire instead.

Pagsibol was well-received by fans and critics alike. Reviews call the EP “fully formed” and “pushing the boundaries of pop music.” Pablo credits the band's loyal A'TIN for the EP's success.

“The root of Pagsibol is giving thanks to all the people that have been supporting us,” he said. “I just wanted to thank all the fans because they are the reason why we're achieving all of this, why we are getting all these accolades.”
